I travelled to India to tell the story of Mohinders, documenting their artisan’s shoemaking process and tracing the origins of their small-batch water buffalo leather. It was a transformative journey from Mumbai to Athani, by way of train, car and rickshaw, through sugarcane fields, rural villages, and dirt roads. We spent many life-giving days in the artisan’s community, drinking chai in their homes and connecting through gestures and smiles. I loved learning their daily rituals and rhythms, sharing meals together and watching their kids play. I was in awe of the way these beautiful humans welcomed us so warmly into their lives, and will carry these experiences for the rest of my life. // This is a collection of personal photos.
